We can help you secure substantial grants.

Most Oxytec systems are eligible for funding.

Upon request, we can bring in certified grant and energy consultants and manage the entire application process for you.

Subsidies ranging from 20% to a maximum of 40% are often available.

We identify suitable programs (federal/state/EU), develop the application strategy, and assist with documentation through to disbursement.

Requirements

  • Eligible aspects of the project
  • The appropriate funding program (federal, state, EU)
  • Technical documentation and supporting evidence
  • Independent certified consultants apply for the funding

Is your project eligible for funding?

We’d be happy to discuss this with you in a brief conversation.

If the requirements appear to be met, we can initiate a feasibility check with the BAFA upon request.

Only a few details are required for this.

You are not entering into any further obligations and can quickly begin planning on a solid foundation.

The funding process explained briefly – in 60 seconds

How do I get started?

Important: The application must be submitted before the project begins.

We start with a non-binding feasibility check at the funding agency. This does not entail any investment commitment or legal obligation on your part.

Where is the application submitted?

The funding application is generally submitted to the BAFA—regardless of whether you later use KfW financing or self-finance the project.

Am I tied to a specific financing option or consultant?

No. You are free to choose your financing, financial institution, and experts. We can coordinate on request—without any obligation.

Do I have to find a funding consultant myself?

No. In many cases, the application is submitted through qualified third parties. We organize and manage this process for you.

When can I start?

Only after the application has been submitted or approved. Placing orders or commissioning work in advance can jeopardize your eligibility for funding. We’ll guide you safely through the process.

What exactly do I get?

A structured funding strategy, technically sound documentation, coordinated application submission, and support through to disbursement—all with a single point of contact.

What air purification measures are eligible for funding?

It always comes down to finding the right program for your planned initiative. The following may be eligible for funding:

Cleaning of industrial exhaust air

  • Emissions reduction (odors, VOCs, aerosols, dust)
  • Process & energy optimization (pressure loss, fans, heat recovery)
  • Plant modernization / replacement of inefficient existing systems

Cleaning and optimization of ventilation in commercial kitchens

  • Odor reduction & aerosol separation (UV and plasma systems)
  • Measures to comply with local regulations / neighborhood protection (UV and plasma systems)
  • Energy efficiency through optimized airflow / heat recovery (ventilation ceilings, demand ventilation)

HVAC

  • Energy optimization through reduced air changes
  • Air quality in production/work areas
  • Filter systems, UV/plasma/adsorption/scrubber solutions (depending on the application)
  • Monitoring / Sensors / Energy management as a project supplement

What funding programs are available?

Federal Programs

  • BAFA: Federal Funding for Energy and Resource Efficiency in Industry (EEW), Module 4 (Optimization of Plants & Processes – technology-neutral, with proof of efficiency/GHG savings depending on the variant). (BAFA)
  • KfW: Environmental Program (Loan 240/241) – Financing of environmental/climate protection investments (low-interest loan; details in the current information sheet). (KfW)

Depending on the project, funding can be structured as a grant (e.g., program-dependent via BAFA) or as a low-interest loan (e.g., KfW)—often determined by the project’s rationale (energy/resource efficiency, emission reduction, replacement investment, measurement/verification concept).

State funding – often via ERDF programs and state banks

We review state-specific programs (e.g., ERDF calls / resource efficiency / environmental technology). In North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), for example, Ressource.NRW 2025–2026 is (was) underway, with applications submitted via the ERDF portal. (efa.nrw)

ERDF varies by state: e.g., ERDF Baden-Württemberg 2021–2027 as a framework. (efre-bw.de)

EU funding – particularly for innovation, pilot projects, and scaling

EU funding is usually not a “purchase subsidy” for standard equipment, but is particularly well-suited for pilot projects, demonstrators, new processes, or transferable best-practice solutions.

LIFE Program (CINEA): Calls/proposals in the area of environment & climate, including air quality/environmental projects – suitable if the project’s nature, innovation, and ability to form a consortium are present. (cinea.ec.europa.eu)

How to Apply for Funding

  1. Define the project objective: Emissions reduction? Energy/resource efficiency? Compliance?
  2. Define the scope of the project: Existing facility vs. new installation, locations, timeline, CapEx/OpEx
  3. Program matching: Grant vs. loan, state aid logic, combinability
  4. Technical documentation: System description, data sheets, design, measurement/verification plan
  5. Economic viability & evidence: Savings/impact logic (per program), quotes, cost plan
  6. Application submission: on time, complete, formally correct
  7. Drawdown & proof of use: Invoices/receipts, commissioning, proof of target achievement → payment

Important note:

In many programs, the following applies:

  • The application must be submitted before the project begins.
  • No orders, contracts, or implementation before approval or before the permissible start of activities.
  • The details depend on the specific program.

We will handle the grant application for you.

In most programs, applications may or must be submitted through qualified third parties—such as energy consultants, grant advisors, or approved project partners.

We not only handle the technical preparation of the project, but can also organize the entire application process through experienced external specialists upon request.

We handle:

  • Selection of suitable funding or energy consultants
  • Coordination of technical details (system design, operating principle, savings logic)
  •  Coordination of all parties involved (you ↔ consultant ↔ funding agency ↔ us)
  • Structuring of proposals, cost estimates, and project descriptions
  • Support through the approval process, funding drawdown, and proof of use

For you, this means: one point of contact—instead of multiple interfaces.

Non-binding preliminary review prior to submitting the actual grant application

Before submitting a formal grant application, we first arrange for a preliminary review by the relevant funding agency.

In this step, the relevant agency will assess whether your project is generally eligible for funding—without you having to enter into any legal or financial obligations at this stage.

  • No order or investment commitment required
  • No contractual commitment to the project
  • No obligation to the funding agency
  • Result: realistic assessment of funding prospects

You’ll get clarity before investing significant time and money. Only if this preliminary review is positive should you take your time to decide on further implementation.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

What subsidies are available for industrial exhaust air purification?

For industrial exhaust air purification, programs are typically considered that focus on:

  • Energy and resource efficiency
  • Process optimization
  • Emissions reduction
  • Plant modernization

—often at the federal level (BAFA), supplemented by state programs or ERDF funding. For innovative projects, EU programs may also be available.

The specific project is always the deciding factor.

That is why we start with a feasibility assessment and use it to develop a suitable funding strategy.

Am I making any commitments when I start the application process?

No. The process begins with a preliminary eligibility review by the relevant funding agency. This review simply determines whether your project is generally eligible for funding.

At this stage, you are not making any investment commitment or entering into any legal obligation. Only after receiving a positive response will you decide whether to submit the formal application and proceed with the project.

Is it possible to receive funding for an odor control system in the food service industry?

Yes—under certain conditions.

Odor control systems in the food service industry may be eligible for funding if they are part of a measure aimed at reducing emissions, improving energy or resource efficiency, or technical modernization.

What matters is not the industry alone, but the project rationale:

For example, whether the system demonstrably reduces emissions, optimizes processes, or replaces existing inefficient technology.

As part of the feasibility assessment, we evaluate whether your specific project generally fits within relevant programs and structure the initiative accordingly.

What counts as the “start of the project,” and why is this critical?

The start of a project is generally defined as any binding action aimed at its implementation—such as:

  • signing of delivery or installation contracts
  • Binding orders
  • Hiring contractors
  • Commencement of construction or installation work

From this point on, funding is usually excluded.

That is why this point is critical:

If work is commissioned or ordered too early, the entire eligibility for funding may be forfeited.

Our process is designed to prevent exactly that:

We start with a non-binding feasibility check and only then—if the feedback is positive—initiate the formal application.

Grant or loan—which makes more sense?

That depends on the project and your financing strategy.

Grants directly reduce investment costs.

Loans (e.g., through KfW) offer low-interest financing with longer terms.

Depending on the program, both can also be combined. Important:

The grant process (BAFA) is completely independent of subsequent financing with us.

You can:

  • self-finance your investment
  • finance through your primary bank
  • use KfW funds
  • or choose a hybrid option

We advise you on the funding criteria—the financing decision remains yours at all times.

Can federal and state funds be combined?

In some cases, yes—but not in any way.

Whether programs can be combined depends on:

  • the specific funding pool
  • state aid regulations
  • funding rates
  • and the scope of the project

.

In many cases, either federal or state funding makes more sense.

We will assess which option yields the best funding results and ensure that ineligible double funding is avoided.

What documentation is typically required (energy savings, emission reductions, measurement plan)?

Depending on the program and measure, the following are required, among other things:

  • Technical system description
  • Principle of air purification
  • Quotes and cost breakdown
  • Project description
  • If applicable, savings or impact logic (energy, resources, or emissions)
  • Measurement or verification concept
  • After implementation: invoices, commissioning reports, photo documentation
  • We coordinate these materials with all stakeholders and ensure they are prepared in accordance with funding requirements.
Based on experience, how long does the approval process usually take?

This varies depending on the program and the funding agencies' workload.

Typical examples include:

  • Preliminary review: a few weeks
  • Formal approval: often several weeks to a few months

Important:

The duration depends heavily on the completeness of the documentation. Well-prepared applications significantly shorten the process—and that is exactly what our approach is designed to achieve.

Which costs are eligible for funding (equipment, installation, planning, measurement, commissioning)?

Depending on the program, the following may be eligible for funding:

  • the air purification system itself
  • Assembly and installation
  • necessary ancillary work
  • planning services
  • Measurement and verification technology
  • Commissioning

Not every item is automatically eligible for funding—the relevant funding guidelines are decisive.

We structure proposals and project costs so that eligible components are clearly identified.

What happens if the project changes during implementation?

Changes are generally possible—but must be reported and approved.

This applies, for example, to:

  • technical adjustments
  • changes in services
  • cost shifts
  • Schedule changes

It is important that such changes be coordinated with the funding agency before implementation.

We assist with these adjustments and ensure that eligibility is maintained.

How do the funding request and the statement of funds used work?

Once the measure has been implemented:

  • Submission of invoices and receipts
  • Proof of commissioning
  • Technical confirmation or measurement data, if applicable
  • Formal statement of use
  • Subsequent disbursement of the grant funds

We assist with the structure, compilation, and submission of these documents to ensure a smooth disbursement process.
