UV-Ozone Exhaust Air Purification System for Food Production

Technical features

The Clean Fryer Air (CFA) offers numerous advantages, particularly for the food industry: It reduces odors by 80–95% and minimizes emissions of organic carbon (total C). In addition, it actively contributes to fire safety and meets all regulatory requirements in accordance with TA Luft. With its compact and lightweight design, it is easy to install and integrate into existing systems.

Fields of application

The Clean Fryer Air is particularly well-suited for cooking lines, roasting ovens, and deep fryers, and can also be used in other areas with strong odors, such as product coating. The system is designed for exhaust air temperatures exceeding 45 °C and can also be adapted for operating temperatures up to 100 °C.

Function

The CFA captures the hot vapor exhaust, ideally close to the production facility. The exhaust air is cooled to approximately 45°C inside the unit using ambient air from the production hall. The resulting condensate is drained off. At the same time, the condensate separators filter particles out of the exhaust air.  The UV spectrum breaks down carbon double bonds and converts them into water and carbon dioxide. The ozone formed from atmospheric oxygen and the hydroxyl radicals released act as powerful oxidizing agents that combine with the carbon molecules to form harmless substances.

A CIP system, which activates in defined cycles, keeps the lamps permanently clean and effective.

Use

Technology material

The Clean Fryer Air has a small footprint, is made entirely of stainless steel, and is relatively lightweight, so it can be placed almost anywhere.

Its air treatment technology, based on UV light and ozone—known as photolytic oxidation and photooxidation—is both effective and efficient.

The air drawn in from the production hall also contributes to a significantly improved indoor climate. An important contribution to workplace safety.

 

Installation maintenance

Roof installation is recommended for the CFA. The system is characterized by low maintenance and operating costs as well as low energy consumption. All components of the system are automatically cleaned daily to prevent buildup and ensure consistent performance.

Additional info

The CFA from oxytec has very low CO₂ emissions and uses no chemicals, resulting in no wastewater pollution. Compared to thermal post-combustion, CO₂ emissions are over 90% lower and energy consumption is up to 80% lower.

The residual products from the exhaust air treatment are 100% biodegradable, making the system an environmentally friendly and sustainable solution.
