Exhaust air purification for food counters and front cooking counters

Compact, mobile and odor-free – even without an upward exhaust air duct

Whether in canteens, refectories, company catering or event catering:
More and more often, people are cooking where they eat – open, visible and mobile.
This brings fresh cuisine into the experience, but also odors, grease fog and legal requirements with it.

Oxytec offers flexible solutions for front cooking counters, mobile food counters and compact kitchen units, which reliably ensure clean air and approvable conditions even without exhaust air ducting to the outside or onto the roof.

Typical sources of emissions from mobile and stationary food outlets

Source Pollutants Special features
Induction plates, teppanyaki, woks Grease mist, VOCs, smoke Point exposure directly in the guest area
Frying modules, cooking islands Oil vapors, organic aerosols High odor potential, often without extractor fan
Regenerating & keeping warm Protein compounds, steam Underestimated exposure with open output

Why oxytec for front cooking & mobile units?

  • No roof duct or central ventilation required
  • Hoods with integrated plasma or UV ozone technology

FAQ – häufige Fragen

Is exhaust air purification really necessary for front cooking if the cooking is only light?

Yes – even with minimal preparation, grease mist, odors and VOCs are produced:

  • spread in the guest area,
  • settle on ceilings, surfaces or clothing
  • and, depending on their intensity, can trigger official requirements.

Our systems ensure clean air – even without central exhaust air ducting.

What distinguishes oxytec solutions from normal hoods?

Our hoods and systems:

  • contain active air purification technology (UV ozone or plasma),
  • do not require an exhaust air duct to the outside or roof,
  • are compact, quiet and hygienic,
  • and are equally suitable for mobile and stationary applications.

Are mobile devices also eligible?

Depending on the federal state and program: yes – e.g. via:

  • Funding programs for school catering
  • BAFA funding for energy-efficient ventilation systems
  • Municipal subsidies for emission-free catering

We are happy to help with the technical description and application.

Is an air recirculation solution without external exhaust air ducting sufficient for approval?

Yes – as long as it can be proven that a technically effective odor reduction is achieved, as with our systems.
The processes fulfill, among other things:

  • VDI 2052 (kitchen ventilation)
  • VDI 3894 (odor evaluation)
  • TA Luft (VOC emissions)

For mobile devices or special solutions, we create measurement reports or technical statements for submission to the authorities.

How often do filters or components need to be serviced?

UV lamps: replace approximately every 8,000-10,000 operating hours

Plasma units: generally maintenance-free, visual inspection if necessary

Pre-filter (e.g. B grease separator): clean regularly – easily accessible

No activated carbon → no ongoing consumption costs

Are there also solutions for heavily loaded mobile stations, e.g. deep fryers?

Yes. oxytec offers especially for grease-intensive applications:

  • Plasma filters with high oxidation performance,
  • Combination units with pre-separator, UV and ozone,
  • Systems with multi-stage odor reduction,
  • Also suitable as add-on module for mobile cooking islands.

How much space do the systems need?

Very little:

  • Hoods with integrated technology are barely larger than standard hoods
  • Mobile units with oxytec module fit on counters or cooking trolleys
  • No external ventilation ducts or technical rooms required

How loud are the devices?

Our systems are designed to be particularly quiet, so that they are also:

  • in the guest area,
  • at events,
  • or in schools, canteens or clinics
without disturbing the sound in the room.

How can the air be discharged if there is no shaft?

  • Recirculation into the room (recirculated air) with odorless cleaning

  • Lateral discharge e.g. via windows, facade or technical area

  • Integrated active extraction with filter module and sound insulation available
